Sad post

This has been a long time coming but it is with great sadness that I have to report the sad loss of my beautiful wife Lorraine who passed away suddenly in October 2014.
Rest in peace darling xxx.

Smartphones and the cinema

Quick rant, why do people bother going to the cinema if all they're going to do is look at their smartphone?  It's happened a couple of times to me recently, do these people not realise how distracting it is?  Fair enough, you don't like the film that you've been dragged along to see but please have a little consideration for everyone else and go outside to use your phone. Rant over!

Durham City

Wordpress for Android

Ok, so I had this idea that I would like to start a new photo blog. I'd heard good things about Wordpress for Android so I downloaded the app to get started. I have to say, so far I'm not impressed. My first post was a simple introduction with a photo of Gateshead Millennium Bridge at night. So far I've been waiting about 45 minutes to upload and synchronise the post and it's still not finished.
Somehow I think my fltirtation with Wordpress may be a brief one!

Breaking Bad

I've only recently discovered Breaking Bad and it's kind of ironic that I'm totally addicted to it. I like the old fashioned way of ending each episode in a kind of cliffhanger, always leaving you wanting more. I like the gradual character development, some characters transforming from bad to good but more interestingly some from good to bad. I can't wait for the next installment :)

Smartphones

How did I ever manage without a smartphone for so long?  I have had this phone (Sony Xperia Z) for about 3 months now and I'm continually finding New ways to use it. Star Trek technology has at last arrived.

Blogger v Wordpress

I briefly flirted with Wordpress as I liked that you can typeset LaTeX directly into your posts whereas Blogger does not have this functionality (there used to be a workaround but this no longer works, tell me if you know otherwise).  However where Blogger really scores is that you can edit the HTML code of your blog to change functionality and appearance.  I would really like the ability to typeset mathematics directly into my posts and maybe this is something Blogger might like to look at.
